Mindy Kalingis, once again, telling it like it is.
The 35-year-old actress appeared onLate Night With Seth Meyerson Wednesday evening to promote the animated filmInside Out, but she also revealed her theory about being a bridesmaid and explained to hostSeth Meyers why the job totally sucks.
"Yeah, I think that when you're a bridesmaid at a wedding, although it sounds kinda glamorous when you're younger, you're essentially like a maid," she explained. "You're like a slave, an unpaid slave to the wedding and you're job is to—you're a maid and you know it because you're wearing a dress that's the same color of the other maids. Like, your uniform.
"And you're job is to just, like, guide grandparents and talk to foreigners and meet people who look confused," the Mindy Project star continued. "Find the rings and stuff. But when you're a groomsman, you're technically supposed to be helpful. But, all they do is drink beer and like play with the dogs and stuff."
Asked by Meyers if she's ever had to host a wedding a give a speech, the comedienne replied, "Oh, yeah. And this is another thing, I feel like I need to give incredibly touching speech that's funny in parts. And you -- all you have to do is state at a place you guys went to college and then every girl wants to sleep with you."
While Kaling admitted she doesn't worry about her celebrity status when attending a wedding, she confessed her speeches are often put to shame by an unexpected family member.
"What I noticed is that what happens a lot of time when I give a speech, this is like the delightful thing, is I'll give a speech, and then like a cousin will give a speech. And what everyone wants to say is like, 'Mindy Kaling was there, but you know who was, like, really good? The cousin. She was like better than Mindy Kaling.' And I'm like, 'That's not true.' He gave a speech but you can't go around being like, 'I'm famous.'"
