This is music to our ears.
While Coldplay didn't win any of its three nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards, frontman Chris Martin was still in attendance to present Record of the Year. His Feb. 5 appearance comes four months after the band's tour was paused due to his health.
Before announcing Lizzo as the winner of the category for her song, "About Damn Time," Martin—who made a cameo on the Feb. 4 episode of Saturday Night Live —walked out onstage wearing a grey knit beanie and a sweater reminiscent of the cover art of his album, Music of the Spheres.
It was a rare appearance for the superstar, who has kept a low profile since the band's October announcement.
"With deep regret, we've been forced to postpone our upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo until early 2023," Coldplay shared on social media at the time. "Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been put under strict doctor's orders to rest for the next three weeks."
"We're extremely sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience, and we're so grateful for your understanding at this challenging time where we need to prioritize Chris' health," the statement continued. "Please hold onto your tickets as they will be valid for the new rescheduled dates. These will happen in early 2023 and will be announced very soon. However, we will also honor all requests for ticket refunds-which will be available at the point of sale."
"To everyone affected, please accept our sincere apologies," it concluded. "And thank you as always for your love and support."
The band has since announced the rescheduled South America dates, as well as a new four-city West Coast tour with support from H.E.R. and 070 Shake.
Martin and Coldplay were nominated for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, but lost the first two to Harry Styles and the latter to Sam Smith and Kim Petras .
